Examination Structure


  • Primary: 3 written papers; Anatomy, Physiology; Pathology in the format of short answer questions and MCQs.

  • Intermediate: FCS(SA) Intermediate.

  • Final: 3 written papers; clinical, oral and practical.

Medals

The MEDAL OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY OF OTORHINO-LARYNGOLOGY was endowed in 1992 and is awarded for exceptionally distinguished performance in the Fellowship examination of the College of Otorhinolaryngologists of South Africa.

Requirements

Primary: - No requirements.
Intermediate: - 12 months surgical training in approved posts. Must include 6 months general surgery and 3 months ICU. - ATLS.
Final: - 36 months in a numbered registrar training post. - Letter from HOD confirming acceptability of Portfolio must be attached to application.  Section 8 (logbook) must be attached to application.  ATLS certificate must be attached to application
