Credo
The Senate of The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) formulated the following Credo which clearly states some important principles:
1. The CMSA is committed to promoting the highest professional and ethical standards through its primary role as an educational and postgraduate examining body.
2. The CMSA is committed to improving the health of all the people of South Africa, and energetically pursues the goal of making its multidisciplinary educational resources available to other states in Africa.
3. The CMSA strongly endorses internationally recognised standards of human rights, condemns all forms of violence and is committed to the development of a just and peaceful society in which educational, health, recreational and other social services are available to all.
4. The CMSA is opposed to all forms of discrimination on the grounds of race, religion or gender and believes that such discrimination is incompatible with the ethical practice of medicine.
